Hangzhou Foreign Language School is one of the eight earliest foreign language schools in China that are designated to produce excellent high school graduates with special talents in English. However, it is more than just a language institution. It puts a lot of emphasis on how to provide students with an education that make them future talents of China or even the world rather than simply prepare them for the National College Entrance Examination (known as Gao Kao 高考). It is strong in both sciences and arts and it is now recognized as one of the most prestigious and highly-competitive high schools in China.
